Differing a bit from the other three books in this series, this book goes more in depth about the movement of muscles in a series of asanas rather than concentrating on individual postures. Deconstructing common vinyasa sequences, this book shows the major muscles groups responsible for each series of movements and how to isolate them for increased effectiveness. It also shows the joint positions and ways to use them to guide your asana practice. The system this book uses is to give five elements for every asana. These are: joint positions, muscles that engage, muscles that stretch, breath, and badhas. The bandhas refers to those muscles groups that are activated and held during the retention of the position, stimulating flow of energy in the position and connecting to the energetic knots in the subtle body.
